Our History

History:

Women’s Polytechnic , Kolkata is the First Women’s Polytechnic, not only on West Bengal but also in the entire Eastern Region of India.

It started functioning in the premises of the Central Calcutta Polytechnic Institute at Convent Road on 23rd December, 1963. In the year of 1976, the institution shifted to its own building at Jodhpurpark, Kolkata.

Subsequently, aided by the Central Govt fund in 1979, some short term evening courses were conducted, which also contributed resource generation. Again in 1991, Women’s Polytechnic, Kolkata became a participating institution in the Project Impact, which was a great achievement for the institution in all respect.

This institution has also been selected by MHRD as the only polytechnic in Kolkata, under the Pilot Community College Scheme and the proposed courses to be offered are i) Financial Services ii) Travel & Tourism
